A new hospital series starts on Monday in ORFeins: “New Amsterdam” – and Austria plays a small supporting role in it.
The “New Amsterdam” in New York is the oldest hospital in the USA, and the structures also appear historical – until Dr. Max Goodwin shows up and turns everything upside down as the new boss. As you’d expect, the staff isn’t too fond of the fresh air, but Goodwin doesn’t let himself be blown away.
Today, ORFeins is treating itself to a new hospital series, and it’s brand new. The first season of “New Amsterdam” premiered in the US at the end of September 2018. The German-language free TV premiere starts at 9:07 p.m. after “Walking on Sunshine”, followed by “The Good Doctor”.
“New Amsterdam” is based on the memoirs of Dr. Eric Manheimer, director of Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan for 15 years. He is also the writer and producer of the series. The main role is played by Ryan Eggold (34), known from “The Blacklist” and with Austro roots: his maternal grandmother was born in Vienna.
